Skills and spells are drops (gems) that are leveled with XP as you kill monsters. The passive skill tree is HUGE and almost overwhelming with the choices you’re given (it’s very reminiscent of FFX’s skill tree). The hard part, is actually getting into the beta, but once you’re in, if you’re a Diablo fan, I guarantee you will be surprised that you had never heard of this game before.

Once you get into beta, you can download the entire game (about 3GB) and jump right in. Now, before you stop listening as soon as you hear “free-to-play”, there’s something you should know – This game is incredible. PoE is a free-to-play action RPG modeled after the hugely popular Diablo series. They definitely don’t have Blizzard’s advertising budget. The game is being made by a small developer based in New Zealand. Why, you ask? You’ve never heard of Path of Exile? That’s understandable.
